:new: Update:

You have exactly two weeks, six hours, and some odd minutes to get your entry in to the Out of Place Contest! :D Here are the contest details:

The Out of Place Photomanipulation Contest Out of Place Photomanipulation Contest
Hi and Welcome to the Out of Place Contest! Have you seen a panda bear exploring the icy region of Antarctica lately? How about that photobombing zebra from your latest trip to the D.C. National Mall? Did you hear about the penguin’s last vacation in Jamaica? I heard he was sipping mai tais on the beach! Well this is your chance to take something and put it in a completely different place than what you would expect!
The Mission Objective: Take at least two different elements and combine them for a completely unexpected result. Whether you’re sending a giraffe to the moon, or letting a scorpion drive a submarine, this should baffle us as much as you can beyond the scope of your imagination!

Also, for our new members, please take a moment to to look over our submission FAQ below:

Hiya Darlings,

I wanted to welcome all of our newest members and give you a quick overview of the submission process. This will help you avoid having your submissions declined in the future.

:bulletpink: You must be a member to submit stock.

:bulletpink: Non-Members may temporarily submit contest entries to the Contest Folder: If you are trying to submit stock and only see the Out of Place Contest Entries folder, that means you haven't joined the group. Stock submissions to the Contest Entries folder will be declined.

:bulletpink: For Contest Entries and the Art from Our Stocks folders:

- All stocks must be properly credited and linked. Considering this is a stock group, it would also be wise to notify the stock providers of use.

- All stocks must come from legitimate stock resources.

:bulletpink: All Stock Submissions Must:

- Be located in the Resources & Stock section of :devart:. All other categories will be declined.
(Declined Categories Include: Photography, Digital Art, etc.)

- Be your own work. We know when they are taken from other stock websites or providers and redistributed. We do check the validity of questionable pieces.

:bulletpink: All Premade Backgrounds, Pre-Cut images, 3D Stock, and Brushes Must:

- Have the sources credited, even if it is your own photography. It is part of dA guidelines and Group Submission Rules. This is not negotiable.

- Come from valid resources. i.e. A stock provider who allows you to make premades with their stock.
Premades and Precuts that come from retail websites, outside stock websites like sxc.hu, or stock providers who do not allow redistribution will be declined and reported. Remember, even if you purchase stock images from another website, it does not mean that you can redistribute them.

- 3D Stock needs to have the program you used to create it listed.

:bulletpink: All Action Previews Must:

- Have legitimate and credited sources. Seriously, don't use a celebrity or non-stock image for it. It will be declined.

:bulletpink: Absolutely NO CELEBRITY or COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL: I can't begin to express how much of a NO that will be if it is submitted. You should never, ever, ever, ever use celebrity or copyrighted material as stock. This goes from using Justin Bieber to those Anime screen shot cut outs that people try to pass off as "renders." :nuu: It's a violation of the group rules, dA terms of service, and a copyright violation that could be punishable by law. DONT DO IT!

:bulletpink: All Stock Submissions Must: Be sharp, clear, and detailed with no major parts cropped out. The standard acceptable size for stock is 1,000 x 1,000 px minimum. Myspace style portrait shots in your bathroom are not acceptable either.

:bulletpink: Regarding Nude Model Stock:

- Tasteful artistic nude stock images are accepted.

- Pornographic "anatomy" shots are declined.

- All nude models must be of legal age. If minors are submitted, it will immediately be reported to the authorities.

Don't forget about the current "Texture Your World" triptych texture challenge! You have until March 11th to participate!

Texture Your World ContestTell us the story of your world in textures!
We are surrounded 24 hours a day by objects that have texture, they may be smooth or bobbly, old or new, bold, bright, shiny or dull. You might see a texture every day and never notice it until you start looking. Do you sit at a desk that's textured, or pass an interesting tree on the way to work or school?
We want you, in the form of a triptych (thats 3 images forming a larger image see example here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych ) to tell us the story of your textured world. Each individual texture should stand on its own, both as a useful resource and as a cohesive part of the whole story. What story you tell through your texture triptych is up to you - but they must be textures that tell a story of your world in some way.
There are 3 categories for this contest, each of which you can submit to twice.

Here are some further details regarding stock:

Stock and Resources: Policy ClarificationThe Stock and Resources community is an integral part of deviantART, both for having an active community of its own as well as providing high quality stock to all deviants.
As this community has grown so much over the years, so has the amount of invalid stock and resources that have been provided by some deviants. The Stock and Resources community feels like this reflects negatively on them, the volunteers have a hard time trying to teach people about valid stock and how to use it correctly, and it gives an appearance that deviantART Staff tolerate so-called “art theft” or copyright infringement.
In this article our aim is to reinforce our policies regarding stock and stock use and clear up some misconceptions.
Stock and Resource submissions to deviantART:
What are Invalid Stock and Resources?
In short, invalid stock or resources are anything which you do not have full permission to upload. This incl
Regarding Pre-Cut Images and Group Rule ChangesYou have one week before I begin cleaning out the Pre-Cut Image folder. As I've said in the past, these clean-outs are not intended to offend anyone, but merely to ensure that our galleries are up to par with the :devart: Terms and Guidelines regarding stock. From now on all pre-cut/cut out images must have their resources credited, even if it is your own image to be accepted into the group. I will begin declining uncredited submissions today. Also keep in mind that the same goes for pre-made backgrounds.
We've had a lot of submissions in the Photography section lately. Please keep in mind that we only accept submissions listed in the Resources & Stock section of :devart:. If it is not listed in that primary category, it doesn't belong in this group, and it will not be approved. I am also considering removing the Art from our Stocks folder, and switching it over to the Group Favorites to avoid confusion.
Also, if you create stock in a fractal or 3D program li
Premade Backgrounds and Group Submission ChangesToday we’re going to address the “Circle of Stock.” Cue Disney’s “The Lion King” theme song and call me Mufasa. Just like in the circle of life, what we do affects another group, and returns to affect us again. We have a responsibility to the artists that use our stock to provide legitimate and safe stock resources. As an administrator for a few art groups as well as stock groups, I have seen what happens to the artists who use invalid stock resources. They have had their art declined, or had to replace stock elements through no fault of their own.  This especially includes those who includes celebrity or otherwise copyrighted material, even if it was uploaded to the Resources and Stocks section of :devart:. It isn’t fair to the artists who use the “stock” and hurts the credibility of not only the stock provider who uploads it, but the stock community itself.
Premade backgrounds have always seemed to be flo
How and Why To Credit Your Stock ProvidersHiya Darlings,
Today I am going to tackle a subject that all photo manipulation artists should pay attention to. (Yes, this means you!) It is my hope that this article will save you the headache and trouble of getting a submission declined, having to delete your work, or worse; be sued by someone because of it.
Why Properly Crediting Stock Is Important
All artists know that the secret to a great manip is finding stock that is just right for the theme you are trying to convey. On :devart: there are literally thousands of fantastic high quality images that are absolutely free. Some of these images are even created by and featuring professional models and photographers.  You could pay a lot of money for the rights to use the type of stock resources in your art that are found here free of charge. This is part of why  :devart: is unique and an amazing place for artists to frequent.
You’ll find that a lot of art groups, including :iconmanip
